Responsive Web Design and Usability

I re-designed my colleague Jeff Johnson’s website earlier this year. As a consultant for user interface design, Jeff needed a website that reflected his ethos of user-centered design. So, I designed his website harnessing the power of a web framework called Bootstrap. Along with my own custom graphics and customized Javascript and CSS, I was able to utilize a powerful set of tools that has been developed for free use. Some of the Bootstrap features I was able to adapt and customize include having the navigation bar affix to the top of the screen when scrolling so that you can easily navigate the site without wasting time scrolling back to the top of the page. I also coded the site to be fully responsive to different screen sizes, thus automatically reformatting the CSS to look great on phones, tablets, and various sizes of monitors.
